Sea Shanty Night w/ My Druthers & Bards of Gungywamp
Join us for a night of sea songs, Celtic folk, and old maritime tunes at The Oasis Pub. My Druthers and Bards of Gungywamp bring their own takes on traditional shanties, drinking songs, and working-class ballads for a night built around music meant to be sung loud and shared with a crowd. Expect plenty of fiddles, banjos, harmonies, and songs from the old world and the open sea.
My Druthers
My Druthers are a New London-based rotating collective led by Stuart Fensom, blending traditional sea shanties, maritime songs, Irish rebel music, and working-class folk with the raw energy of punk rock. The group draws from Fensom’s roots in the punk scene, approaching these older songs with a rougher, louder style and a focus on their rebellious and working-class spirit. Their rotating lineup features guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and vocals, and they’ve performed at pubs, punk shows, Celtic and maritime festivals, and shanty events throughout New England and beyond.
Bards of Gungywamp
Bards of Gungywamp are a New London-based folk group formed in 2022, blending Celtic folk, sea chanteys, bluegrass, old-time, country, Cajun, punk, and original material. Their repertoire combines traditional songs with original music inspired by New England history, maritime culture, and local folklore. With fiddle, banjo, guitar, bass, whistles, percussion, and multiple vocalists, the group brings a full, lively sound to their performances. Since forming, they’ve played pubs, festivals, Renaissance fairs, folk events, and other venues throughout Connecticut and New England.
