ROMXN
ROMXN is the creative moniker of Providence based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Jack Zornado. Emerging as a compelling voice within the vibrant PVD indie scene, the project blends soulful alternative pop with the gritty authenticity of indie rock. Characterized by earnest, introspective songwriting and melodic hook-driven arrangements, Zornado frequently self-handles a dense layers of keys, guitar, and bass to build his signature sound. Backed by collaborative local production, ROMXN has steadily built a regional following through standout releases like late 2023's "Letters of Love" project and popular local tracks such as "My Boys" and "Loverboy," positioning the act as an essential fixture in Southern New England's underground pop-rock landscape.
Mutter
Mutter is a prominent alternative indie rock band deeply embedded in the tight-knit Providence DIY scene. Composed of core members Molly Halpin (vocals, guitar), Tyler Faria (drums), Dante Krystman (bass), and Riley Wicks (guitar, vocals), the group is celebrated for its emotionally raw storytelling, dynamic instrumentation, and intimate, introspective lyricism. Merging foundational elements of indie rock with soulful jazz accents—frequently collaborating with local tenor saxophonists like Caton Vance—Mutter has steadily built a dedicated regional following. They initially made waves in the local scene with their 2021 debut album, Imitation Crab, and followed up with popular underground singles like "Jaundice" and "Play it Off". Further solidifying their footprint as an essential PVD staple, Mutter released their highly anticipated sophomore full-length album, I'll Wait and Pray, in early 2026, showcasing a matured sound that bridges the line between delicate, emotive soundscapes and powerful live-energy performances.
Knife Kickers
The Knife Kickers are a prolific alternative indie-folk and emo-tinged rock outfit heavily active across the Southern New England underground circuit, split between Connecticut, and the Providence, Rhode Island DIY spaces. Initially starting out as a raw, low-fi bedroom project with early releases like 2018's scratch and 2019's catching up, eating shit, the project has spent years evolving its sonic identity. They are highly regarded for their intricate acoustic guitar work, melancholic storytelling, and deeply vulnerable vocal delivery. Operating frequently as a solo endeavor or expanding into a dynamic full band layout for regional tours and festival lineups, they have built a strong community presence alongside fellow Northeast indie staples. In August 2026, the project reached a major milestone by teaming up with Connecticut's Redscroll Records to officially release "an acoustic album," a critically acclaimed 12-track project pressed on limited-run bio-vinyl that perfectly captures the group’s blend of delicate, heavy-hearted folk and raw indie grit.
